HOEK's Mexican-style restaurant decor

2023. Dec. 2. | Community

József Riez is engaged in wall decoration painting, design and painting. The name HOEK dates back to an earlier period, which is a sign of his numerous works and a guarantee of the quality of his work.

What you can see at the moment is a decorative painting of a Mexican restaurant called Sombreros Taqueria. Her clients wanted to evoke the visual aspect of this rich culture in addition to the food, so you can see colourful skulls, inscriptions, cacti, lots of accessories, but Riez says the main figure is the most exciting of all, as it is their daughter with traditional face paintings and jewellery.

In terms of ideas, almost everything came from them, so in that respect the intellectual part was there and Riez was the hand in this story that made it happen. They came across his site in connection with an earlier painting of a similar theme /Tereza Restaurant/ and contacted him through that site. His clients are private individuals and include Spoon the boat, Il Mercato Ristorante e Gelateria and a few other delicacies.

Ries's work is based on classical methods, using mostly brushes and rollers for larger surfaces. This was no different, so after sketching he set to work dressing the blank surfaces and he recalls it took him 20 days to finish everything.

If you are in Balatonakarattyá you should come here and try it out for yourself.

Colors Underground – The Iváncsa Underpass Gets a New Lease on Life

For a long time, the underpass at the Iváncsa train station was just another one of those familiar, functional, yet impersonal spaces. A place people pass through but don’t linger in. Today, however, it offers a completely different experience: colors, shapes, and stories accompany travelers along the way. The decoration is not only a visual renewal but also an imprint of a community-oriented vision—the identities of three towns converge here with László Varga’s unique perspective.

Adam Illes – Reflections

His work titled *Reflections*, installed on the wall of Stratford Junction, explores a theme that is both personal and universal: connection. Not an encounter in the superficial sense, but that rare and elusive moment when two people truly see one another.

When Paint Turns to Glass – Glass Angel

Street art is often about quick gestures and raw energy, but there are works that speak more of patience, precision, and a carefully constructed visual experience. CSM’s work titled “Glass Angel” is the final piece in a four-part mural series that not only posed a serious technical challenge but also holds personal significance for the artist. The transparency of the glass symbolizes fragility, the angel represents beauty and love, while the dark and light tones in the background symbolize the duality of the world.
