2023. Sep. 5. | Events

The graffiti jam organised to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the Molotow Shop in Budapest was a real hit, bringing the graffiti world together and doing something nice for people.

Actually, the idea for the jam came from the fact that the shop was 4 years old this year, so they wanted to do something nice for people, to bring the graffiti "world" together. That's how the jam came about. The road to choosing the date was a bit bumpy. It was postponed once, but in hindsight it was a very good decision to choose August 19th as the winning date.

An Instagram competition was also set up for the jam, and the winners were invited to the event. There were a lot of great pictures and it was hard to choose. So in total 15 people went as invitees/winners. The aim was to make the work of these people come together as a unit, to be like a team. That's where the Molotov Combat concept came from. 😀 A clash of "cold" and "hot" sides with the Molotow logo in the middle.

Invited guests were provided with a black base for painting on the Filatorigate. Since a really super team was formed, even those who had time to spare the night before the jam went to the base in their free time. In addition, 9pcs of Flame Orange 400ml cans were provided to all the patrons, selected based on the concept. And as a thank you, pizza was also served to all the supporters during the jam.

During the jam, participants other than the sponsors came to paint. Flame Orange cans were available for purchase on site, plus there were test cans and markers on site for anyone who wanted to try out their products. They felt this appealed to their younger age group audience. The good vibes were provided by Dj Oldschool Peppino, who kept the mood going with his excellent music throughout the jam.

By the end of the day, everyone was really happy. After a chat between the jam participants and the organisers, it was clear that there are few graffiti events like this. So everyone was happy that this jam had taken place. In the week before the jam, the organisers received several emails and messages saying that they were happy about the event and that they would like to go and paint. So you can really say that everyone who wanted to go paint could go paint, there was room for everyone. Many people asked the organisers if there would be another jam, when the next one was expected...

The answer is YES, absolutely. They are planning workshops in their shop this year, which are already in the planning stages, but they definitely want to organise another jam next spring, and since the Molotow shop it will be 5 years old next summer, so you can expect an event like this then too.

The artists involved: ANX, Awor, Coke, Eztne, Ogre, Little Mejo, Mone, Ábra, Racrone, Rawman, Save, Suber, Junk, Time, Zest.

The Molotow team would like to thank all the participants for coming and painting. To everyone who contributed in any way to make this event such a success. As mentioned, there are other events already planned, but we will need you for that!

Communities Through Art – Cross-border cooperation

University students from Szeged and Timișoara had the opportunity to learn about Szeged's street art as part of the Communities Through Art project. The students worked together with art historian Mihai Moldovan and filmmakers Alin Boeru and Mikulán Dávid, who documented the layers of street art in Szeged with photos and on-site video reports. The completed images were presented in an exhibition during a three-day multidisciplinary arts festival as part of the Grand Café 'Le Grand Opening' series of events, and Adél Kiss's mural was unveiled on the staircase of the café. The program included a dozen music, film, and street art events for those interested.
