Other blockchains still need centralised cloud servers, such as AWS, to run their applications and websites. ICP is the first platform to build a truly decentralised internet, run entirely by the community.

First, there was Bitcoin. In 2009, BTC made history by allowing people to send value directly to each other online, without a bank.

This solved the problem of massive double spending and gave us real digital money. But its purpose was always simple: to be digital cash.

Then came Ethereum, the second big innovation. ETH introduced smart contracts, which allowed developers to program what their tokens could do.

This single idea gave us DeFi, NFTs and the whole 2021 bull market. Since then, almost every other chain has been a copy, trying to be a slightly faster or cheaper version of Ethereum.

What is real innovation? Not just a small increase in speed or a lower tariff. True innovation is a fundamental change that makes something completely new possible.

It is a game-changing leap, as BTC and ETH were in their day.

The idea for a Satoshi Calculator, developed in-house, arose from a very simple, practical question: if I’m writing about Bitcoin, the Lightning Network and peer-to-peer payments, why not make it possible to use them in practice as well? This is where Urban Művészet’s street art tours and the Bitcoin content in the magazine came together.
