Westprememural projekt

The city of Veszprém was also affected by the new wave of street art, fire wall painting, which took place in the concrete jungle of Haszkóvó in the city's largest housing estate. The participant in the painting was Gergely Ozsváth, i.e Mentha the musician of the band Hősök tells us about the implementation of the project and its background.

My old dream came true with the fact that the Westprememural project could be realized. After a lot of organization and brainstorming, the Lélektér Alapítvány with his cooperation and with the support of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture, we were able to prepare it with Ákos Moravetz (IKE) my own idea, moreover, in a decisive and important place for me.

I made ten possible designs, of which 4 were finally voted on by the public both online and offline. And in the voting, the draft of the already completed mural received the most votes, which by the way led the competition towering throughout, there was no question which image the people of Veszprém would like to see on the wall again.

First, on day zero, after dark, we put up the contour lines, which required the help of an industrial projector. And then the next morning we fell for the hands and then the background and so on. The background was created with Ákos using a mixed technique, and the base of the larger surfaces was created with a cylinder and dispersion, everything else was blown up with a spray. Everything was prepared according to plan, there was also the case that we got off the lift basket for the first time late in the afternoon to proceed as planned. But, of course, we polished it until the last moment so that the first mural painting of this size in Veszprém would be as I dreamed it would be. Specifically, we came down and finished the work minutes before the storm after more than a week of heatwave.

Make it unique and stand out from the gray

Originally, we wanted to smuggle a little color into Veszprém's largest residential complex, the concrete jungle of Haszkóvó. To make this often forgotten part of the city unique and to stand out from the gray with a motif that can be felt by everyone in Veszprém. The intertwined hands symbolize togetherness and handball with a long history in Veszprém. In the end, it turned out to be much more, since not only did we give with the painting, but the housing estate also gave to us, since we were part of the community. A lot of people followed the process, which gave a lot of strength and flow. Many people also said that this is a perfect meeting point that helps with orientation, but there should be more of it.

Feedback

I was afraid that we would get both hot and cold because of the graffiti, but in the end it was a huge surprise and joy that we actually only received positive feedback, and not a few. It's an indescribable feeling. I am so grateful that it came together, it was a real team effort and I loved every minute of it. I'm really just sorry it's over, but there will probably be a sequel. says Mentha.

The mural is located in the Haszkóvó housing estate, on the eastern fire wall of the panel house at Halle utca 5, which by the way is now a triple important point in Mentha's life, as he grew up here and his first music was recorded in the lineup of this house back in 1996.

HOEK's Mexican-style restaurant decor

What you can see from him at the moment is a decorative painting for a Mexican restaurant called Sombreros Taqueria. His clients wanted to evoke the visual aspects of this rich culture in addition to their food.
